Celebrating animals is our passion! Since 1968, PAWSibilities®, Humane Society of Greater Akron, has been Summit County’s trusted caretaker for underserved animals. We are the only animal entity in Summit County with the legal authority to protect injured, abused, and neglected animals. Two full time deputized Humane Officers respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We rescue, recuperate, and adopt those animals into their “fur-ever” homes. Pawsibilities supports the community through advocacy and educational programs, and provides volunteer opportunities to those concerned with the proper care and treatment of companion animals.
We do not pick up or accept healthy stray animals or owner surrenders. Those services are provided by the Summit County Animal Control Shelter and other animal shelter organizations. The County, private animal shelters and the Humane Society have important but differing roles in the network of care of animals in Summit County.
