For over two years, our shelter has been full of rescued animals. The number of rescues we perform each year has been increasing. While we are so full, we are concerned about having space for the next large rescue. Large for us is 15 or more animals being rescued from one location. Unfortunately, we have had many of these, up to 30 animals at one time.
We wish we had more space so we could serve people who find it necessary to give up their pets. It’s a service we should provide. But, as long as we are in our current shelter, there just isn’t enough room to shelter all our rescued animals and owner surrenders. We hope to gain some ability to take in owner surrenders when we occupy our new, larger facility. Time will tell. There just never seems to be enough space to shelter all the animals that need shelter.
