The Humane Society of Greater Akron education programs are free to Summit County schools and organizations However, fundraisers and donations are greatly appreciated and will allow the program to remain free of charge and help it grow into the future with better material and supplies. There are ways that a class can come together to help benefit the animals at the HSGA. Listed below are some ideas of fundraising a class or an individual could do to help raise money to help out our furry friends.

Here are a few ways to raise money for the animals with your class, scout troop or by yourself:

• Organize a Candy Sale, Bake Sale or Popcorn Sale!
• Hold a Bow Wow Garage Sale - clean out your room, sell some stuff, earn money!
• Have a wish list or blanket drive in your school or neighborhood!
• Collect Pop Cans for Pooches - save your pop cans, ask your neighbors too and donate the deposit money to the animals!
• Hold a Pet Walk-A-Thon or Read-A-Thon for donations to help the animals!
• On your birthday, have people bring gifts for the animals, instead of you, and then donate it to us in honor of your big day!
• Have a “Change for Animal Change” drive. Different classrooms compete with each other and see which room can raise the most change by the end of the month. The winning class could get a free pizza or sundae party (see if someone would donate the winnings)!
• Have a car wash and have donations benefit the HSGA!
• Set up lemonade or Kool-Aids stands and ask people to make a donation to the animals for a free glass.
• Make your own dog biscuits and sell them to people to help raise money. The left over treats can be donated with the money!
• Set aside your chore money for the week to help the animals. See if any of your friends want to do this with you!
• Ask people to make a donation to help the HSGA and you will mow their lawn or shovel their sidewalk for free!
• Have a bowl-a-thon and for every pin knocked down a dollar is donated!
• Or, be creative and make up your own fundraisers!
