Celebrating animals is our passion! Since 1968, PAWSibilities®, Humane Society of Greater Akron, has been Summit County’s trusted caretaker for underserved animals. We are the only animal entity in Summit County with the legal authority to protect injured, abused, and neglected animals. Two full time deputized Humane Officers respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt those animals into their “fur-ever” homes. We support the community through advocacy and educational programs and provide volunteer opportunities to those concerned with the proper care and treatment of companion animals.
We do not pick up or accept healthy stray animals or owner surrenders. Those services are provided by Summit County Animal Control (SCAC) and other animal shelter organizations. SCAC, private animal shelters, and the Humane Society have important but differing roles in the network of care of animals in Summit County.
PAWSibilities®, Humane Society of Greater Akron rescues and rehabilitates abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Summit County, places them in good homes, investigates and prosecutes animal cruelty, and strives to set a standard of excellence and leadership in animal care, humane education, and progressive animal welfare programs.
