You pay a donation of $5 to the Humane Society of Greater Akron and then you can order any size photo on line. Photos take aprox. 3-5 days to ship out to you. People do not need to be a HSGA volunteer to help with this event.
Training is provided so don’t be afraid. Most of the volunteer options are dealing cards (again we’ll train you), but we do need people to count money, collect seat fees and help assign players to tables. We will need to at least 50 volunteers per day just to deal.
Volunteers can spend all day there and or work shifts. We have all kinds of scheduling options. The hours will be Thursday – Friday 4pm -12am and Saturday – Sunday 2pm- 12am.
Volunteers are also welcome to stay and play Texas Hold 'em. Be sure to invite your friends and family to help or play. Snacks will be provided and the concessions are discounted for volunteers.

September 27 & 28, Donzell's will once again be hosting their annual Fall Festival to help all the animals at the HSGA. Mark your calendar's for this fun, family event!
New this year for adults, there will be a wine tasting on Saturday from 1-6 pm to sample local Ohio Wines from Viking Vineyard, Myrddin Winery, and Maize Valley Winery. Other activities include a game tent, pony rides, yummy food, the Great Pumpkin Contest and much more! Operation Orphan Wildlife with Fran Kitchen and her wildlife friends will also be there. And, of course, there will be adoptable dogs from the HSGA looking for their "forever homes". We look forward to seeing you there!

The HSGA Rummage Sale was a great success! Over $10,000 was made to help us rescue and rehome needy animals in Summit County. A big thank you to Bus & Pat Hill for heading up this huge undertaking!
Also, thanks to all who donated items to be sold and volunteered their time for the event. This first time, great fundraiser was planned and executed by HSGA volunteers!

On Saturday September 20 the Hilton Akron ballroom resembled a cruise ship sailing on the open seas. From the palm trees and life preservers to the steel drums and shells, it was a nice evening get-away.

This free event is open to the public and will take place across from Hudson Hydrant on the Green at 6 p.m. Silverman will be discussing his dog training book, What Color is Your Dog, as well as his philosophy behind his successful career as an animal trainer, answer your dog behavior questions and sign copies of his book.
Silverman a native of Aurora, Ohio began his career as an animal trainer at Sea World of Ohio and is excited to be back in Ohio promoting his passion animal behavior. Silverman believes strongly in the mission of the Humane Society of Greater Akron and am proud to present this free event to the public.

The show will also feature prints by Sinclair Stratton, contemporary art by Patricia Sanders- White, and humorous prints by Chuck Wimmer. The gallery will be donating a portion of proceeds from all animal artwork to the Humane Society’s new location. Keep your eyes open around town, because all of your favorite merchants are lending a paw and helping out this worthy cause too!
