Animal Intake

Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) is currently operating at full capacity, and we must now refocus our efforts to ensure that we continue to fulfill our core mission. Our primary mission at HSSC is to provide care and support for severely sick or injured animals within Summit County and those animals seized by our humane agents pending abuse and neglect charges.

As such, we are unable to accept owner surrenders. However, we remain a safe haven for animals previously adopted from our organization. If you need to surrender an animal adopted through HSSC, please contact us at (234) 212-9843.

For stray animals within Summit County that are not severely sick or extremely injured, please take them to Summit County Animal Control at (330) 643-2845 located at 250 Opportunity Pkwy, Akron, OH 44307.

You can also visit our Community Resources page for a list of other organizations and services that may be useful for your situation.
