Fostering

etOpen your heart and home to a pet in need!

For animals who are very young, sick, or injured, time in a foster home may provide them with a therapeutic place to recover and grow before they are ready for adoption. Our greatest need each year is for kittens - we annually rescue over 1,000 kittens, most of whom require some time in a foster home!

Our foster families generously are rewarded with love, cuddles, and a great learning experience for the whole family! HSSC provides all the supplies your foster pet will need: food, bedding, leashes, litter, litter boxes, crates, and medical care – and staff offer advice and support! More information about HSSC’s foster program is available by clicking here.

Ace

Age: 2 years old
Weight: 50 lbs
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier mix

Foster Need: Ace came to us after he was injured from a collision with a vehicle. He has since undergone orthopedic surgery to repair damage to his hip. He is still recovering and would benefit greatly from special care in a foster home. Ace needs a quiet, stress-free place to relax while his exercise is monitored so that he can safely gain strength in his leg.

Personality: Ace can be a little timid when it comes to meeting new people. Once he knows you, he's your new best friend and loves to spend time cuddled up on the couch. Ace likes to play with toys and enjoys the company of another canine companion as well. Ace is a goofy and loving pup.

Elliot

Age: 4yr
Weight: 80lbs
Breed: Pitbull mix

Foster Need: Currently going though heartworm treatment and will need strict cage rest and short walks to potty. He will need to be fostered for 1 month.

Personality: Elliot can be a little on the timid side when first meeting new people, but with some yummy treats he comes right out of his shell! He is an energetic boy who loves to play. This big boy has potential with other dogs but will need to keep separated from other animals.

Larry

Age: 6-8yr
Weight: 65lbs
Breed: Pitbull mix

Foster Need: Currently going though heartworm treatment and will need strict cage rest and leash walks to potty.

Personality: This babe is shy when first meeting new people but with some time and yummy treats he starts to come around and wants to be your best friend. He is a low maintenance guy who likes to go with the flow. If you are looking for someone to chill with for the next month or so call about Larry!

Chico

Age: 11 years old
Weight: 60lbs
Breed: Pit bull collie mix

Foster need: Chico is a 11 year old boy who is getting stressed in a kennel environment. He would prefer a low traffic, quiet home where he can relax. He has had chronic vomiting since arrival which is being treated with a special diet and medication, that we would provide. He is seeing a cardiologist on June 30th and would need to return June 29th 2021.

Personality: Chico is a sweet boy who enjoys attention from everyone he meets. Chico may be older, but don't tell him that, he's a big ball of energy! Chico loves to play with his toys, and will play as long as he can! He has potential with dogs and with a good introduction he wouldn't mind being in a home with one. Chico also has potential to be with children!
