Planned Giving is a unique and powerful way to have an impact on animals well into the future. Your support ensures the Humane Society of Summit County can continue to save the lives of homeless pets for years to come. Planned giving may offer valuable tax benefits for you and your heirs. Besides helping you meet philanthropic goals, Planned Giving may also provide you with significant benefits such as capital gains tax savings, increased cash flow, or reduced estate taxes.
We recommend working with your own financial planner or lawyer to fully understand the tax benefits of donating for you and your family as well as to ensure your wishes are formalized. We can help connect you with local professionals in these areas if you would like recommendations.
*Please note: Gifts of assets may require approval by the HSSC President and CEO prior to acceptance.
In 2020, the Humane Society of Summit County established the Legacy Society as a way of thanking donors for their planned gifts during their lifetime. There is no minimum pledge required to join. Except in specific cases (as in a charitable gift annuity or irrevocable trust), the donor retains decision making control and the power to alter plans at any time. Joining is as simple as declaring your philanthropic intentions through a simple form. By declaring your gift, you allow HSSC to plan for a bright future and safe community for animals in need.
HSSC is committed to the privacy of donors. We will never share your name or intentions publically without your expressed permission. Please see our Donor Privacy Policy for more information.
Should you have any questions or requests regarding your planned gift, to notify us of your intentions, or for information on the Legacy Society, please contact:
