Dog Training

PAWSibilities®, Humane Society of Greater Akron places emphasis on canine behavioral assessment and training. We utilize the “Putting Our Best Paws Forward” training program. Our goal is to increase successful adoptions from the shelter through a creative and targeted animal enrichment program. Putting Our Best Paws Forward includes two types of training classes, Canine Good Citizen Certification and Basic Obedience Training. Additionally, all of our dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement.Pawsibilities, Humane Society of Greater Akron uses humane training methods based on positive reinforcement with a sound understanding of canine behavior and animal learning theory.

Cat Training

PAWSibilities®, Humane Society of Greater Akron utilizes the ASPCA’s Feline-ality program. Feline-ality is a research-based assessment of a cat’s behavior and interests that matches adopter preferences with an animal’s behavior. We also provide music and pheromone therapy to felines in our care. PAWSibilities®, Humane Society of Greater Akron uses humane training methods based on positive reinforcement with a sound understanding of feline behavior and animal learning theory.
